How much electricity does your House use? How does that stack up against other Houses?
The rankings below show how much your House has reduced its electricity consumption versus previous years. The score is one of the determining factors in the Green Cup, our annual inter-House competition, pitting Houses against each other to see who can reduce its environmental impact the most.
Long bars to the right of 0 are better than short bars; bars to the left of 0 (which imply increases) are bad. Click bars for more details.
Want to help improve your House's score? Here are the top five ways to reduce the electricity consumption in your House:
Wash your clothes in cold or warm water (instead of hot).
Enable power management on your computer. Have it go to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity.
Shut off lights when you're not using them, and install Compact Florescent Lamps in your desk lamp if you haven't yet (you can get a free bulb from your House REP).
When you're going to be away for a long break, unplug your fridge (but remember to defrost it properly).
Come up with a new and innovative energy saving campaign in your House and put it into place. It could count as an Eco Project, and help you win one of our individual prizes.
